Embroidery work is traditionally a household hunar (skill) and served as a safe haven for all types of creativity and self-expression. Hunza women have been trained in embroidery techniques at home for generations however the modern development were engulfing the traditional skills and the motifs and designs. KHDP thus trained women and special people to transform the indigenous motifs and designs into unique and quality practical accessories of modern time, gift items and souvenirs. For the women it is now not only an art but also a tool that brings about confidence and self-reliance. It provides additional income for thousands of women, which in turn helps to raise the standard of living in rural areas where most income generating activities are seasonal. |
